Renovating a house - part 1

Image
So I've taken on the project of renovating a 1930's house. I've learned a few things so far The first being do not try and get a single building company to do all of the work. They're too slow and it takes weeks for a quotation to be completed and then there is just not enough detail to know exactly what you're getting. Go to the separate trades such as window companies, plumbers, bathroom fitters and get at least 6 of them to come and visit, because chances are two won't turn up, one will be  incompetent and that leaves you with three quotes to compare. Job 1: Get a plumber to replace the boiler and move a radiator The existing Vailant boiler was decades old and though still working well it's a risk to keep it and also run a shower that isn't a powershower in the new bathroom. I spoke to a few plumbers who were all pretty good but went with Jon from Plumbbob as they were ontop of the quote, decent value and confident with what was needed....
